Kidd’s Kids
Kidd Kraddick a disk jockey that airs on MIX 96.1 wanted to make a difference in the lives of terminally and chronically ill children. Each year, Kidd Kid’s offers five amazing days of suspended reality to children whose lives have been ravaged by disease. Kidd takes these children and their families to Walt Disney World in Florida. For many families with terminally ill or physically challenged children, this is a very rare opportunity to leave behind hospital and treatment centers to share laughter and fun in a magical environment. It’s the goal of Kidd’s Kids to make this a trip of a lifetime. With that in mind, Kidd’s Kids covers all expenses including airfare to/from their local market to DFW, chartered jet to/from DFW to Orlando, hotel, park passes, all meals, transportation while in Florida, souvenirs, special private character visits and so much more!
Bobby Biaza introduced Kidd’s Kids to our chapter last fall after learning about what’s Kidd’s Kid’s is about we decided to do our best to help raise funds for the organization. This year we started our Kidd’s Kids campaign on September 24; in which we held an information table in our University Center in order to solicit donations from the St. Mary’s Community. In exchange for their donation we made paper mickey mouse ears, in which the donor had the option to color, to be placed on a wall along with others. In addition to our information tables, we participated in our school’s Fall Festival hosted by UPC on September 29th. At Fall Fest we brought MIX 96.1 to DJ and local band Your Done For to perform and promote our cause. Thanks to the St. Mary’s community we were able to donate $214.83.
MIX 96.1 dedicated October 1st to Kidd’s Kids. On this day, MIX provides their listeners opportunities in several parts of San Antonio to donate to the cause. Not only does our chapter provide fiscal support to Kidd’s Kids we, and in any of our service, prefer hands on service. A majority of our brotherhood volunteered at MIX’s 281 & 1604 location in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Brothers made and held signs to catch the attention of cars passing by, while other brothers stood outside of Wal-Mart and solicited donations.
Overall we would like to thank everyone one for their support. Our brotherhood enjoys supporting Kidd’s Kids and looks forward to continue to bring Kidd’s Kids to St. Mary’s.
